Empowering Engineering Education: Highlights from HEESeB's Training of Trainers

As part of the Strengthening Capacity of Higher Engineering Education for Sustainable Buildings (HEESeB) project, three Training of Trainers (ToT) courses were successfully held from 30 September to 3 October. These courses focused on key issues for the advancement of education in this field.

1. Gender-sensitive STEM education

Jigme Namgyel Engineering College hosted a four-day programme led by Prof. Suzanne Kalepari from the University of Innsbruck, Austria. The course aimed to promote gender equality and diversity-sensitive STEM teaching. Discussions focused on empowering girls in STEM and creating inclusivity.

 

2. Energy Efficiency in Buildings

A two-day course on Building Energy Efficiency, facilitated by Professor Wolfgang Streicher, University of Innsbruck, was attended by 46 staff and students. It covered key aspects of building efficiency, with an emphasis on cost-effective and sustainable design.

 

3. Timber Engineering

Dr Anton Kraler from the University of Innsbruck gave a comprehensive guest lecture on timber engineering. The lecture provided an insight into timber construction projects and structural aspects.

 

Certificates were awarded to the participants in recognition of their commitment to advancing knowledge in these critical areas. These courses contribute to professional development and a more inclusive future in engineering education and sustainable construction practices.
