Among Us Women: APPEAR Cooperation with 'this human world' international human rights film festival

5. December 2022 Entwicklungsforschung
This December, the international human rights film festival 'this human world' is back to cinema!

Within the framework of the cooperation with this human world international human rights film festival we will show the film Among Us Women on 10th December 2022 at 1:00 pm at the Top Kino and discuss with the film producer Sonja Kilbertus, the APPEAR scholarship holder Simegn Kassa Alamirew and the audience.

Synopsis:
In Ethiopia, it often takes a long time for an ambulance to arrive, which is why many women take the risk of giving birth at home. This is also the case with Hulu. The film accompanies this young woman with empathy and without prejudice before and after the birth of her son. Between the health center’s efforts to educate more women about giving birth safely on their premises and Hulu’s intimate conversations with her midwife, the picture of a predicament emerges. At the same time, it is a portrait of women who stand with great strength in a world where they have few rights.
