Round table in Tbilisi on promoting innovative educational programmes

On 24th of October 2018 the Georgian Academy of Agricultural Sciences hosted a round table with the core team of the APPEAR project "Academic Cooperation for Environmental Education" (ACCES)” between GTU, Georgia and BOKU, Austria.

The round table was organized by the National Coordinator of the Agricultural Engineering Department of the Academy. The Agenda focused on two main topics: Upgrading of the master programme on water engineering at the GTU and the implementation of advanced teaching technologies into environmental higher education.

The discussion was opened by the Vice-President of the Academy, Acad. G. Japaridze. He introduced the mission and goals of the Academy pointing out the importance of promoting modern educational and methodological tools for the young generation in Georgia. Presentations were given by the guests from University of Applied Life Sciences Vienna (BOKU), representatives of scientific institutions and academia emphasizing the significance of close cooperation on national and international levels.

The round table came to the conclusion that the academic staff involved in the preparation of educational programmes of the Georgian Technical University should actively cooperate with the ongoing ACCES bilateral project enabling higher benefits for all interested parties.

The round table was also broadcast to the community via the website of the Academy.

In the framework of the visit, there were also meetings and discussions on related topics with the students and staff of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and with the Vice-Rector of the GTU Prof. L. Klimiashvili. Regular get-togethers and mutual exchange between academia, students and scientists are highly valuable and essential for the successful implementation of the project objectives.
